Is Bod_X troubling to install?

Please download the latest version of BOD_X, a fully running software. Leonardo also has a new documentation of his program in a downloadable PDF file.

Does the dictionary work for Mac?

Yes. A Mac-based search program created by Gerry Wierner is now available for free download at www.nitartha.org. At this time the program only supports English. At a later time, he'll add Tibetan script. You probably need the Jaguar release of Mac OSX to run it. If you have an earlier release of MacOSX, it may not work.

Another Mac person uses Virtual PC program on the Mac.

Hope this is helpful. The user group is a Yahoo eGroup (Tibetan-English_Dictionary-User_group@yahoogroups.com).

How to use the dictionary with Mac?

If you are running the most current OS X 10.3.1 on your Mac, then on the Rang Jung Yeshe v3 CD follow the path ry-dictionary2003/SearchPrograms/AndreasMontano this folder contains a Java dictionary program that will work quite well on the Mac and allows one to input in either Tibetan or Roman by simply typing Extended Wylie. This particular dictionary includes a number of extra Jeffery Hopkins dictionaries that aren't available with the other formats that are supplied on the disk.

I've copied the this folder to my home directory (it has all the needed files). To run the dictionary program simply open a Terminal window (Applications/Utilities/Terminal) and:

dhcp-65:~ chris$ cd AndresMontano/
dhcp-65:~/AndresMontano chris$ java -jar DictionarySearchStandalone.jar public

I hope this helps.

ciao,
Chris
