Biographical data

SHANTIDEVA was a seventh century master at Nalanda monastic university. He is regarded as one of the 84 Siddhas; author of the Bodhicharyavatara, published in English in several versions. (byang chub sems dpa'i spyod pa la 'jug pa), and the Shiksa Samucchaya (bslab pa kun las btus pa), the "Collected Precepts" two major texts describing the ideal and practice of a bodhisattva.
